Vice President Biden Officially Kicks Off $32 Million Renovation and Restoration of Wilmington Train Station

Vice President Joe Biden spoke at the Wilmington Train Station on the morning of May 5, 2009, about the importance of updating our nation's infrastructure.
The station, designed by architect Frank Furness, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. It is near the Christina Riverfront, which has seen hundreds of millions of dollars in private and public money poured into it in the past two decades to transform the former industrial wasteland into a place with corporate offices, new town homes and condominiums and a minor-league baseball stadium.
The station is slated to receive new concrete curing, glass stairwell enclosures and canopies as well as restoration of the exterior of the building.
The renovations are expected to be completed by February 2011 and will preserve or create 84 jobs over the next two years.
